Cowon iAudio D2 16GB to get DAB
The South Korean manufacturer is planning to add DAB to its 16GB iAudio D2 MP3 player.
The DAB edition of the audiophile's choice of portable music player was previously only available with up to 8GB of memory, while its DABless brother was available with up to 16GB. Apparently sales of these players have exploded in recent months, so adding DAB to the 16GB model is a wise move.
Both DAB and non-DAB models will be available in 16GB incarnations and with SDHC/SD card slots as standard. Up to 16GB can be added to this internal memory, enabling the D2 to support a whopping 32GB of flash memory.
Cowon is currently redesigning the PCB inside the D2 to allow for a 16GB DAB-enabled model, but we should see it hit shelves in the next few months.
It's a MP3 and FLAC player, with the best sound quality from a portable device and amazing battery life and file format support.

the iPod amp
Maybe it’s stretching it a bit, calling a 44 x 47 x 27cm unit which weighs 17.5kg “portable”. This speaker box, which is almost half a metre wide and high has a handle and wheels though, as we are used to seeing in trolleys. It is a box for event entertainers, street musicians and people with a sense of mission. There is one thing which distinguishes this PA amplifier from others – it has a connector for iPods.
It is yet to be seen whether AAC files, which have been optimised for listening to through in-ear earphones, will still sound good on this bass monster. Microphones or other instruments can also be connected, as well as iPods. Other CD or MP3 players can also be connected.
The amp has a 2-way speaker, which should give 22W sound over 40m. The batteries should last for 12 hours. A universal adapter allows all types of iPods to be connected.

Creative Zen X-Fi: MP3 player with wireless streaming

Check out Creative's new Wi-Fi enabled media player -- the Zen X-Fi, so-called because it incorporates Creative's X-Fi audio technology, which helps 128Kbps MP3s sound better.
It's got a keypad for having IM conversations with your mates and, best of all, it'll play a heap of media formats: MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, DivX, XviD, MPEG-4 and WMV.
It comes in 16GB and 32GB capacities, rocks a 64mm (2.5-inch) screen, an FM radio and 36 hours of battery life for music, five for video.
The Zen X-Fi will be available in the UK in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities, though the 8GB version will only ship without the wireless LAN connectivity.

Finis SwiMP3v2

Finis designs all sorts of aquatic sporting gear, so the $139 SwiMP3 digital music player isn't coming from the same minds that have engineered, say, the iPod or the Zune. That makes this waterproof MP3 player all the more impressive: It works well and is a snap to use. Sound quality out of the water isn't great—and you have to wear the goggles for the device to work—but in the water, where the player is all you can hear, it sounds much fuller, though it's light on bass.
