New: Apple Video Ipod
Apple today launched a new version of it's incredibly popular portable audio player, the iPod. The new iPod however has a twist, for as well as playing back audio files, its colour screen also supports video, marking a new direction for Apple who had previously shied away from the portable video player market.
The new iPod comes in two variants, a 30GB and a 60GB version. The new iPods are also slimmer then the previous generation, with the 30GB version 45% smaller overall, and the 60GB version 10% smaller. As well as this you can now get your iPod in both black and white, shadowing the colour options available on the iPod nano.
Other new features that the fifth generation iPod sports are a 20 hour battery life and a larger display at 2.5 inches. However it's the video that's bound to have everyone talking, with support for both the H.264 and MPEG-4 formats (the latter at resolutions up to 480x480), this marks a new space for Apple to be entering.
