Evergreen’s New 20GB MP3/WMA/OGG Player
Evergreen (Japan) will release its newest addition to the MP3 player market,
the EG-HDMP620 with 1.8 inch 20GB hard drive, on June 17th. The player is
currently listed as open price, no surprise there, however electronics retailers
expect the player to retail for around ¥28,000. It’s compatible with Microsoft
Windows 2000 and XP.
The EG-HDMP620 plays back MP3, WMA and Ogg Vorbis files. The bit rate for MP3 files is 32~320kbps, WMA files are 48~160khz, and Ogg Vorbis files are 64~240kbps. The unit is also capable of WMA DRM support. The player has a built-in blue LED back light for the LCD display and supports ID3 tags, also capable of displaying information in Japanese.
Although the player does not use the USB 2.0 standard to connect to a computer (instead the USB 1.1 standard is used), it does come with special software called Audio Phile, to help users organize and transfer their music. The player can also be used in conjunction with Windows Media Player 9/10 and there’s also a built-in 20 band equalizer.
In addition to the above, there’s also a built-in FM tuner and voice recorder, and the player records in MP3 format. The bit rate for recording is 64/96/128/160/192kbps. Using the line in, a CD player can be connected and songs can be directly recorded to the device.
The player is powered by a rechargeable built-in lithium polymer battery with a maximum playback time of 14 hours. The outer dimensions are 104x58x21mm with a weight of 147 grams.
