Evergreen’s MP3 Player Analog Wristwatch

Evergreen (Japan) has added two new models to it’s MP3 watch series that were released on June 10th. The new models incorporate WMA playback as well as voice recording into the tiny package of a standard wristwatch. The model numbers are EG-MPW256VR (256MB version) and EG-MPW512VR (512MB version).

In addition to the above, Evergreen is also selling two other models that do not come with built-in WMA support or voice recording. These watches are physically similar to the higher end models, however as stated above, lack some of the functionality of the VR models and are cheaper. All four watches are compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP.

EG-MPW256/512VR
Both models have built-in flash memory that can playback both MP3 and WMA files. Both a 256MB and a 512MB version are available. The bit rate for MP3 files is 8~320kbps and WMA files are 8~192kbps. As mentioned above, voice recording is possible using the built-in mic. The watches record in MP3 format at 32kHz/80kbps CBR.

There’s a built-in stereo mini jack and the watch comes with a stereo mini cable. Output is 4mWx2ch. The watch connects to a computer via a USB 1.1 interface and behaves as a USB storage class device when connected. The watch is powered by a lithium ion rechargeable battery that provides 6 hours of playback time for MP3 files and 4 hours of playback time for WMA files. The weight is 170 grams.

As mentioned above, two other models are available that don’t have built-in WMA and voice recorder functionality. There is a 256MB model which as a black face and a 512MB model that has a white face.
